This time of year, things get so crazy for me. There is school starting for the children which includes, lunches, homework, extra educational activities (back to school night, academic night, art night, etc.), my own school work, dinner, maintaining a clean home, laundry, Halloween, costumes, and everything else I cannot think of right now, but I know they are there.
Well, this year has been a little more demanding of my time. My student teaching is coming up at the beginning of 09, and I have to have all of Praxis Tests in, 100 hours of classroom observation, including normal classroom homework.
With all of this said, there are moments that I just want to lie down and take a nap hoping that when I wake up, it will have all passed. With this option not allowed, I reach for God and ask him for His Grace to make each day pass all of the while giving Glory to Him for everything I do.
I am doing this personal bible study by Kay Arthur called, "Lord, I Need Grace to Make It Today." Doing studies help me stay focused on what really matters and it is God's way of telling me to take at least 1/2 hr a day and read His word and talk to Him in Prayer.
Anyway......I am learning about the purposes of the First Law (OT) before NT Christ. I thought I would share it with you...
"A knowledge of God's Law serves three purposes. First, the Law sets before us the righteous standards of God. Second = By the Law is the Knowledge of Sin. Third = Serves as a tutor, a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ." HOW COOL IS THAT! Then Kay threw in a parenting advice into the study that I am going to share. Sometimes, we forget, and this is a great reminder...
"As you bring up your children under the Law of God, you are putting them under a schoolmaster that will show them their need for the grace of God. If they heed the Law,l it will serve as a guard against a life of blatant sin and the bitter consequences that come from transgressing God's holy commandments." - I try to do this every "teachable moment" I can. I am constantly praying diligently for them. I pray, hope, and desire that their lives will be a path led by Christ.
Enjoy your weekend,
me
